The SPLC’s Anti-White Bias

Instead of monitoring “hate” and “extremism,” they [the SPLC] are concerned with tarring patriotic Americans who oppose their left-wing agenda as haters and extremists.
(Congressman Tom Tancredo)
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) describes itself as “a nonprofit civil rights organization dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry, and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of society,” and claims to “work toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality” (splcenter.org).
The Center’s first priority is supposedly to combat “hate and extremism”:
The Southern Poverty Law Center monitors hate groups and extremists throughout the United States and exposes their activities to law enforcement agencies, the media and the public. We’ve crippled some of the country’s most notorious hate groups by suing them for murders and other violent acts committed by their members.
In reality, the SPLC is itself a hate group. The Center exaggerates and even fabricates racially motivated crimes committed by white people, while it systematically ignores, censors, understates, and omits critical details from racially motivated crimes committed against white people.
In this way, the SPLC stirs up unjustified anger, resentment, and hatred toward white people, leading to just the sort of violent hate crimes it pretends to combat.
This scheme has earned the “nonprofit” SPLC well over $200 million (splcenter.org). See johntanton.org and isteve.blogspot.com for more on the Center’s profiteering.
This webpage documents the Southern Poverty Law Center’s anti-white bias — a bias so spectacular it often defies belief.
Meanwhile, another page, “Hate Crime Hoaxes,” documents some of the many fake hate crimes against groups other than white people, to which the media and supposedly “anti-racist” organizations like the SPLC devote so much attention.
That page also explains why the FBI’s Hate Crime Statistics Reporting Program, the official source of hate crime data for the USA (and the SPLC), is not a reliable source of information on racially motivated crimes involving white perpetrators. Simply put, “Hispanic” is a victim category, but not a perpetrator category, so Hispanic perpetrators of racially motivated crimes are recorded as “white.”
Methodology
The SPLC maintains a list of “hate incidents” (splcenter.org):
Incidents of apparent hate crimes and hate group activities listed here are drawn primarily from media sources. These incidents include only a fraction of the approximately 191,000 reported and unreported hate crimes that a 2005 government report estimated occur annually.
To expose the SPLC’s anti-white bias, I choose, more or less at random, violent crimes satisfying certain conditions:
- the victims were white and the perpetrators were non-white;
- the crime was clearly motivated, at least in part, by racial bias, making it a hate crime by definition (fbi.gov); and
- the crime was reported by the media to the extent that a Web search turns up multiple articles from reasonably mainstream sources.
Then I look up those crimes in the SPLC’s list of “apparent hate crimes and hate group activities… drawn primarily from media sources.”
Here is what I have found so far. In every case, the SPLC’s anti-white bias is obvious.

Aug 2010: Mass Black-on-White Mob Violence During “Beat Whitey Night” Escapes SPLC’s Attention (Des Moines, IA)
On August 14 2010 in Des Moines, 30 to 40 black youths roamed the Iowa State Fairgrounds attacking whites at random, an event they called “Beat Whitey Night.”

The SPLC ignored “Beat Whitey Night” entirely: none of these black-on-white hate crimes appear on the Center’s list. They elected to include only one “hate crime” from Des Moines in 2010: an act of vandalism. (Actual vandalism, not hours of racially motivated torture, as in the case of Shane McClellan, below.)
Des Moines, IA
Vandals painted a swastika and the letters “KKK” on a man’s truck.
Type: Vandalism
Reported: 07/21/2010
This sort of vandalism is often a hoax; see “Hate Crime Hoaxes.”
May 2010: SPLC Mistakes Hours of Racially Motivated Torture for Act of “Vandalism” (Seattle, WA)
On May 25 2010 in Seattle, a white man, Shane McClellan, was held hostage and tortured for hours by a black man and an Asian man for being white. They beat him, robbed him, whipped him with his belt, threatened him with a gun and a knife, burned him with cigarettes, and urinated on him.

The SPLC lied, claiming the perpetrators only beat their victim, and classified the racially motivated abduction and torture of Shane McClellan as an act of vandalism.
Seattle, WA
A black man and an Asian man beat a 16-year-old boy for being white.
Type: Vandalism
Reported: 05/30/2010
This entry may be the SPLC’s idea of a joke. In any case, in the Center’s year-end report for 2010, this horrible crime was counted as an act of anti-white vandalism.
Nov–Dec 2009: SPLC Reduces Largest Racial Hate Crime Spree in Denver’s History to “Legal Development” — Minus the Races (Denver, CO)
In late 2009 in Denver, police arrested 38 blacks for racially motivated assaults against whites and Hispanics. According to Police Chief Gerry Whitman, “it was perhaps the largest racially motivated crime spree in the city’s history” (denverpost.com).
You can also watch NBC’s coverage (brightcove.com).

Ashley Celestine (left), charged with aggravated robbery and first-degree assault for knocking out a 25-year-old man from behind and stealing his cell phone, and Kavean McCloud (right), charged with first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault for fracturing a 24-year-old man’s skull
The SPLC reduced this hate crime spree to a single entry about one of the 38 arrests, censored the race of the perpetrators and victims, and classified it as a “legal development.”
Denver, CO
A juvenile was arrested on charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and bias-motivated crimes in connection with 26 racially motivated assaults in the downtown area.
Type: Legal Developments
Reported: 11/23/2009
According to the SPLC, an arrest for 26 violent hate crimes is merely a “legal development,” not an assault, as opposed to the following entry about what is clearly a legal development in a case involving a homeless man not assaulting, but shouting insults at a black woman.
Boulder, CO
William Bagosy, 49, pled guilty to third- degree assault and was sentenced to 78 days in jail for shouting racial slurs at a black woman outside a homeless shelter in November.
Type: Assault
Reported: 01/27/2009
Almost everything else about this entry is wrong as well: William Bagosy actually pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment in June 2008 for shouting racial slurs outside a homeless shelter in May of that year (dailycamera.com). His motive was a lack of hot dog buns. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail after violating a condition of his unsupervised probation: going back to the convenience store that ran out of buns.
Then Bagosy was arrested in November for sexually assaulting a homeless woman; there was no racial motive (dailycamera.com). He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor third-degree assault and was sentenced to 78 days in jail.
It took all of two Web searches to find this information (“william bagosy” and “william bagosy assault”). Instead of reporting the truth, the SPLC chose to fabricate a racially motivated “third-degree assault” against a black woman.
Although the SPLC censored the race of the perpetrators (black) and victims (white and Hispanic) in the Denver hate crime spree of late 2009, they prefer to include this information whenever the victims are black, as in the following entry, also from Denver.
Denver, CO
High school students chanted racial slurs and derogatory terms at visiting black basketball players during a game.
Type: Intimidation
Reported: 02/11/2009
The “racial slurs and derogatory terms” used in this “intimidation”: “marshmallow,” “buckwheat,” and “shrimp boat” (denverpost.com). How… dreadful.
Aug 2009: SPLC Fails to Notice 10–15 Black Men Brutally Beat White Man for Dating Black Woman (Buffalo, NY)
On August 18 2009 in Buffalo, a group of 10–15 black men brutally attacked a white man, Brian Milligan, for dating a black woman. They beat him with pieces of concrete, inflicting damage to his brain, and kicked him in the face, breaking his jaw.
See “Father wants son’s beating treated as a hate crime” (cnn.com) and “Was the Beating of Brian Milligan Racially Motivated?” (truecrimereport.com).
The SPLC ignored this racially motivated black-on-white mob attack: Brian Milligan appears nowhere on the Center’s list. However, the SPLC did include the following incidents from the previous week.
Abilene, TX
Leaflets from the United White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan were left in yards.
Type: Leafletting
Reported: 08/16/2009
Leafletting is not a crime, let alone a hate crime.
Shreveport, LA
Three juveniles were arrested for vandalizing a park with racist remarks.
Type: Legal Developments
Reported: 08/13/2009
This sort of vandalism is often a hoax; see “Hate Crime Hoaxes.”
The SPLC also included the following incidents in Buffalo.
Buffalo, NY
Dozens of swastikas were painted on a house.
Type: Vandalism
Reported: 07/13/2010
Again, this sort of vandalism is often a hoax.
Buffalo, NY
A woman was stabbed in the eye by another woman shouting with anti-gay taunts outside a lesbian bar.
Type: Assault
Reported: 01/01/2010
