In April 2012, conservative author John Derbyshire sparked controversy (johnderbyshire.com) with his article “The Talk: Nonblack Version” (takimag.com), leading to his dismissal from National Review (amren.com, thepoliticalcesspool.org).
Items 10a–e from Derbyshire’s remarkably candid “talk that nonblack Americans have with their kids” proved particularly controversial.
The default principle in everyday personal encounters is, that as a fellow citizen, with the same rights and obligations as yourself, any individual black is entitled to the same courtesies you would extend to a nonblack citizen. That is basic good manners and good citizenship. In some unusual circumstances, however — e.g., paragraph (10h) below — this default principle should be overridden by considerations of personal safety.
(10) [...] while always attentive to the particular qualities of individuals, on the many occasions where you have nothing to guide you but knowledge of those mean differences, use statistical common sense:
(10a) Avoid concentrations of blacks not all known to you personally.
(10b) Stay out of heavily black neighborhoods.
(10c) If planning a trip to a beach or amusement park at some date, find out whether it is likely to be swamped with blacks on that date (neglect of that one got me the closest I have ever gotten to death by gunshot).
(10d) Do not attend events likely to draw a lot of blacks.
(10e) If you are at some public event at which the number of blacks suddenly swells, leave as quickly as possible.
A small sample of the hysterical responses:
- nydailynews.com: “Once in a while, I read something and think: Please, Lord, tell me that this is a joke. Please, please tell me that a human being did not actually think these things and, worse yet, think to write them down.”
- theatlantic.com: “Let’s not overthink this: John Derbyshire is a racist.”
- theatlanticwire.com: “Derbyshire does effectively demonstrate, year after year, exactly how racist you can be and still get published by people who consider themselves intellectuals.”
- forbes.com: “a kind of unbelievably racist piece [...] specifically urging white people to engage in such profiling [the systematic profiling of blacks as criminals due to their race], among various other racist nonsense.”
- gawker.com: “shockingly racist,” “a lot of tired racist stereotyping under the guise of ‘public safety’ for white people,” “horrifying diatribe”
- twitchy.com: “a bizarre and offensive piece,” “disturbing advice,” “downright crazy talk”
- abc.net.au: “a perfect example of why Australia needs racial vilification laws”
Now consider the following: “A Censored Race War” (nationalreview.com).
[...] episodes of unprovoked violence by young black gangs against white people chosen at random on beaches, in shopping malls, or in other public places have occurred in Philadelphia, New York, Denver, Chicago, Cleveland, Washington, Los Angeles, and other places across the country. Both the authorities and the media tend to try to sweep these episodes under the rug.
Media outlets that do not report the race of people committing crimes nevertheless report racial disparities in imprisonment and write heated editorials blaming the criminal-justice system.
What the authorities and the media seem determined to suppress is that the hoodlum elements in many ghettoes launch coordinated attacks on whites in public places.
The author is Thomas Sowell, the distinguished black political commentator.
Consider also “Newark Star-Ledger admits to censoring race in savage mob attacks” (examiner.com).
I called the Star-Ledger and [...] asked to speak to crime reporter James Queally who wrote Star-Ledgers’ two articles on the attacks.
Queally told me that the police report did list the race of the perpetrators and that he censored this information in his two articles on purpose. He also stated that it was the newspapers’ policy to censor race in crime stories.
Queally denied that the attacks were racially motivated. He said that if it was blacks attacking whites, then that was just a factor of probability. Keep in mind that Queally admits knowing the race of the perps and refuses to say.
I told Queally about numerous other black on white mob attacks all over the nation and explained to him this was part of a trend of racially motivated hate crimes. At this point Queally went from a friendly demeanor to a very arrogant sounding tone. He replied “well somehow myself and everyone else in the media have missed all of these.” I told Queally I have been documenting these hate crime mob attacks and would be happy to e-mail him lots of information. Queally then hung up the phone without a reply.
The author is Kyle Rogers, identified as a “white supremacist” by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a highly profitable and intensely racially-biased “nonprofit civil rights organization”; see “The SPLC’s Anti-White Bias.”
Finally, for contrast, consider “Matt Drudge’s disgusting race war awareness campaign” (salon.com):
This is the narrative that Drudge is trying to create, especially on slow news weekends when there’s nothing real to aggregate and post: The blacks are rising up and attacking the whites. If that sounds a bit crazy, in a Charles Manson way, then you’re obviously not paying attention. Black people are angry and they’re taking over! [...] stoke paranoia about emboldened, angry black people rising up [...] obvious code term for “scary black people” [...] disparate, unrelated stories [...] this world of race riots and constant violent attacks on innocent Caucasians exists only in the imaginations of Matt Drudge and the paranoid suburban and exurban white people he wants to keep terrified [...] cynical political point-scoring [...] attempting to make whites terrified of blacks [...] just vile.
The author is Alex Pareene, a left-wing columnist who as a teen was beaten up three times by black kids — twice robbed, once left unconscious; whose childhood home was burglarized three times by blacks (bigheaddc.com — archived); and who in 2007 was robbed, and watched his girlfriend get robbed, threatened, and groped, by an unarmed, ghetto slang-using “young man in a white hoodie” who had invaded her apartment (washingtoncitypaper.com — archived).
Take Our Quiz
Test your knowledge of mob violence in United States with this short quiz.
- In recent years, have violent mobs of dozens, hundreds, even thousands of people, always black, created havoc in major American cities including Milwaukee, Chicago, Boston, Miami, Denver, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Kansas City, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York City, and St. Louis?
- Are new cases of black mob violence now reported on an almost daily basis?
- Do many of these black mobs target random white people for brutal beatings, often using racial slurs and laughing at their victims?
- Is the racial makeup of the violent mobs relevant, considering that there is no epidemic of mob violence by anyone but blacks?
- Is the racial makeup of the victims relevant, considering that much of the violence is explicitly motivated by race, whereas there is no epidemic of racially motivated mob violence against anyone but whites?
- Have the mainstream media largely ignored these attacks and consistently covered up the racial makeup of the mobs and their victims?
If you answered “yes” to all six questions, congratulations: you passed the test. Use this webpage (continually updated) as a resource to teach others.
But if you answered “no” to any question, I’m sorry to say you failed the quiz. You don’t know enough about mob violence in the US to keep yourself and your friends and family safe. Let’s correct that.
This webpage documents the escalating epidemic of black mob violence, especially racially motivated violence against whites.

Portland, OR/Jun 2012: 40 Black Teens Rob and Vandalize Grocery Store after Crashing White Girl’s School Party
From katu.com (with video):
A group of around 30-40 teenagers stormed into an Albertsons grocery store in Troutdale on Saturday night, stealing merchandise and trashing the store, according to police.
Officers in the Portland suburb said the kids, who were between 13 and 16 years old, had been drinking at a party that was broken up by police before the robbery.
They said the kids then walked en masse to the nearby store and “flash robbed” the place. The term “flash rob” is a play off a “flash mob.”
“They tried to overwhelm the employees so they went in as a group and started destroying banners, tearing up boxes and stuff,” Sgt. Steve Bevens with Troutdale Police said.
He said they also stole food and shoved items into their jackets.
Surveillance video also shows two boys get behind a counter and try to steal a cash register. Kids are also seen throwing produce and riding a motorized scooter.
“All of a sudden a mob of kids come walking out and some of them are running,” said one witness who called 9-1-1 but did not want his name published. “I heard Albertsons employees yelling at them.”
He said he heard the suspects bragging about how much they stole.
“What shocked me the most was the girls had the most stuff,” he said. “It wasn’t just the boys.”

Portland, OR/Apr 2012: 15–20 Black Men and Women Chase White Couple into Store, Steal Items, and Assault Them and White Employees
Portland is 6% black (census.gov).
From kgw.com (with video):
A clerk and another person were assaulted by members of a ‘flash mob’ at a Southeast Portland store Friday night, police said.
A man and woman were being chased by 15 to 20 people when they fled into the store, in the 12100 block of E Burnside Street, just after 11 p.m., according to Portland Police Sgt. Pete Simpson.
“As the woman was asking the clerk to call 911, the group ran into the store and took alcohol, candy and food from the shelves,” Simpson said. “Employees described having multiple altercations with the group inside the store.”
While the group was leaving the store, an employee attempted to apprehend one of the suspects and was hit several times. That suspect was described as a 17 to 18-year-old African-American woman, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a heavy build.
During that altercation another member of the group was fighting with the woman who had initially run into the store to escape. He was described as a 17 to 18-year-old African-American man, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds.
The rest of the ‘flash mob’ then returned to the store, at which point another employee began deploying pepper spray and the entire group, including the initial victims, dispersed in different directions.
Neither employee required medical assistance, but Simpson said police were concerned about the violent nature of the incident.
“It concerns the police that these things are going from simple thefts [see below] to robberies and assaults, and they’re certainly scaring the heck out of people working at the stores,” he said.
Portland, OR/Apr 2012: 10 Black Teens Rob Clothing Store — ”Constant Problem” Says Employee
Portland is 6% black (census.gov).
From katu.com (with video):
Police are investigating another flash mob theft by a group of teens, this time at Nordstrom at the Lloyd Center.
Last week, a group of 16 teens converged on a Southeast Portland convenience store and stole merchandise and then ran out [see below]. Police are still investigating the incident.
Friday’s incident happened just after 8 p.m. Police interviewed employees of the store who said a group of approximately 10 black male teenagers were in the store and began taking items and putting them in bags before they ran out the southwest doors of the store toward Northeast 9th Avenue.
Police who checked the area recovered some of the stolen clothing, but did not find the teens, who were between 13 and 19 years old. They were all wearing hats and hoodies with their faces covered.
Cherise Vanhooser, who works at Lloyd Center, wasn’t surprised at the incident.
“Kids steal all the time at the Lloyd center,” she said. “I mean, I’m constantly dealing with it at work. I know a lot of the other managers are. It’s just a constant problem. You always have to have someone on the floor because you can’t trust anybody.”
That same night in Portland, 15–20 black teens assaulted a man who asked them to quiet down on a MAX train (katu.com).
Portland, OR/Apr 2012: “Daring Pack of Kids,” Meaning Mob of 16 Aggressive Black Teens, Raids Gas Station… Twice
Portland is 6% black (census.gov).
From katu.com (with video):
Police are hoping the public can help identify several kids who stormed a local gas station this past Saturday night and stole everything they could grab.
On the surveillance video, one person came into the Chevron convenience store on SE 92nd and Foster. Then a second person came in and pretty soon, a large group of kids was packed into the shop. Soon, they were stealing anything they could, from drinks to gum to candy
Carlos Garcia was working Saturday night at around 11:30 p.m. when the incident happened. He said there were 16 kids in the store. Garcia said the kids grabbed anything they could and shoved items into their pockets or simply carrying them in their hands and out the door.
“My first reaction was call police because I can’t do more,” he said. “I don’t want to hurt them — they’re kids. I called the police. They don’t stop they’re just picking picking as much as they can.”
As the kids were leaving the store, there was some sort of confrontation. It didn’t end there, though. The thieves came back to the parking lot, which is when Garcia said they started throwing things at him. Garcia promptly grabbed a baseball bat and scared the kids off.

Peoria, IL is 27% black (census.gov).
From pjstar.com (with video):
A large-scale illegal fireworks display in a housing complex adjacent to the state’s largest Fourth of July celebration turned into what police termed a near-riot Monday as tens of thousands of revelers tried to filter out of Downtown.
As the grand finale of the Red, White and Boom! event exploded over the Illinois River, emergency responders were called at 9:46 p.m. to a trash bin fire in nearby Taft Homes, where commercial-grade fireworks had been shooting into the sky since before the riverfront show began.
A fire engine and two Peoria police officers responded, but encountered what police described as a crowd of hundreds of people and an impassable Hancock Street choked with trash and fireworks — both live and spent. The debris blocked access to the burning trash bin.
Police at that point began ordering the crowds to disperse, and firefighters hosed down the live fireworks and smoldering remnants of spent shells. That’s when mortar-type fireworks began firing toward and exploding near the officers and firefighters. Some people also hurled bottles and rocks, according to police.
The video reveals that the violent “revelers” attacking police and firefighters with rocks, bottles, and “mortar-type fireworks” were all black.
Memorial Day/2011: Mass Fighting Among 1,000 Black Teens on Carson Beach Spills out Across Boston

Boston, MA is 24% black (census.gov).
From cbslocal.com (with video):
State police are increasing patrols in the area of Carson Beach after hundreds of teenagers were found fighting there several days in a row over the long holiday weekend.
On Friday, night about 700 teens were at the beach where gang fights started. On Saturday, several hundred teens were at the beach after closing and moved from the beach without incident.
But Sunday, more than 1,000 teens were at the beach and as troopers and officers tried to get them to disperse a trooper says he was assaulted by a suspected gang member who then ran into the crowd holding his pants in a way the trooper thought he had a gun.
Then on Monday night, state police estimated 1,000 teens gathered at Carson Beach and several fights between rival gangs erupted.
Veteran state police say these incidents included an unprecedented number of people.
In all, police made nine arrests between the incidents. Officers say they could have made more arrests, but their primary goal was to “move the crowds and restore the safety of the neighborhood.”
Fights broke out among rival gang members on Carson Beach in South Boston yesterday and spilled out across the city, triggering a massive law enforcement response from at least five agencies to stem the violence.
Police said the gang members are part of a group of more than 1,000 youths who have used social media sites like Facebook to plan unruly gatherings on the beach on three of the past four nights. The beach falls under the jurisdiction of the State Police, who have been unable to prevent the violence.
As the crowd broke up, hundreds of the unruly youths boarded the Red Line at JFK/UMass Station. Some went north; some went south.
According to Transit Police, a group of young people ended up at Downtown Crossing and started a fight in the station that spilled onto the street. Clashes were also reported at other stops.
Hundreds who went south exited the T at Savin Hill and spilled into McConnell Park, where families were gathered with young children and a Little League baseball game was going on.
Annoyed residents, cooking hot dogs and watching after their children, clashed with and jeered at the unwelcome group of youths.
“Arrest them. Arrest them all,” said Chris Garside, 42, a Savin Hill resident who angrily confronted a youth who was leaning against a car. Several Boston police officers standing nearby walked over and whisked the youths away, back toward Savin Hill Avenue.
The groups have been larger and rowdier than even veteran South Boston troopers remember.
“Veteran troopers assigned to the State Police barracks for a couple of decades have never seen as large a volume of kids that were there tonight,” Procopio said.
Procopio said the troublemakers were mostly 14 to 19 years old.
And they were all black, of course.
